Univesal Genève Polerouter Date Ref. 204610-1 Circa 1960
Introduced in 1958, the Polerouter was developed for Scandinavian Airlines System to withstand the magnetic fields encountered on polar flights a functional response that became an icon, shaped in its early design by Gérald Genta.
This first series Ref. 204610-1 features a 34mm stainless steel case with twisted lugs, defining the distinctive silhouette of the model. The matte white crosshair dial is signed with an applied “U” logo, a date at 3 o’clock, and “Swiss only” at the base.
Original tritium plots have aged to a deep black tone, contrasting with the sharp dauphine hands, the minute hand having been partially relumed. The watch retains its signed crystal with central “U” with loupe, original crown, and a screw-down caseback with well-preserved engravings.
At its core is the automatic micro-rotor calibre UG 218-2, beating at 18,000 A/h, a refined and technically forward construction for its time. Its movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
A design born from function, now standing as a timeless expression of mid-century watchmaking.
