Universal Genève White Shadow Ref. 867.101 Circa 1970 GF Bracelet
Designed by Gérald Genta, the White Shadow was Universal Genève’s answer to the race for the thinnest dress watch of the 1960s, pairing an ultra-slim profile with the brand’s pioneering micro-rotor technology.
Produced in 1970, this reference 867.101 is housed in a 34mm stainless steel case. The silver dial features printed Roman numerals and a date window at 3 o’clock, a clean and highly legible composition that captures the understated elegance of the line. The crystal is signed with the Universal Genève logo at its centre, a detail that speaks to the care with which the watch has been preserved. It is fitted with its stainless steel bracelet by Gay Frères, one of the most respected bracelet makers of the period.
At its core is the automatic Universal Genève calibre 2-67, the date version of the brand’s micro-rotor movement, whose small rotor is set into the movement rather than stacked above it, allowing the case to remain remarkably thin without giving up self-winding.
An understated dress watch with real technical substance, the White Shadow stands among Universal Genève’s most distinctive creations.
