Rolex Daytona APH Ref. 116520 From 2013 Full Set

Introduced in 1963, the Cosmograph Daytona built its legend on the racetrack, and reference 116520 marked a defining chapter in that story: in 2000, it became the very first Daytona to house Rolex’s own in-house chronograph movement, the calibre 4130, ending decades of reliance on external suppliers such as Valjoux and Zenith.

This example, produced in 2013 and originally sold in Singapore, carries a detail prized by serious collectors: a subtle spacing anomaly within the word “COSMOGRAPH” on the dial, nicknamed the “APH” dial. Produced only for a few years before Rolex corrected the printing, it remains a genuine rarity within the 116520 line and a distinguishing feature sought after by discerning collectors.

The white dial presents with strong contrast and excellent legibility, paired with silver subdials and a steel tachymeter bezel, the last generation of Daytona to feature this material before Rolex’s switch to ceramic. The watch has been serviced, and the case remains sharp and well defined throughout.

At its core is the automatic calibre 4130, a column-wheel chronograph movement developed entirely in-house by Rolex, offering approximately 72 hours of power reserve.
